The festival of Raksha Bandhan not only celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters, it also has a social significance. It underlines the notion that everybody should live in harmony and hence speaks about the rich culture and traditions of India that make our nation extraordinary. This pandemic has definitely taught us that problems in life are inevitable, but that will definitely not deter our faith towards humanity. We might be locked inside our homes, but there is no need to put a lock on the bonds we cherish. To help our students learn to be humane, to be sympathetic towards all living beings, D.G. International school came up with an activity to celebrate this Raksha Bandhan by distributing rakhis, sweets or homemade masks to our frontline corona fighters like security guard, sanitation workers or domestic helpers, thus trying to put up a smile on their faces. All immensely liked the idea and the parents shared many pictures with us, which made this small yet powerful effort a success. All the activities by various students were done keeping all the government guidelines in mind because along with the fun, safety of ourselves and of others needs to be taken care of. The students’ and corona fighters’ innocent smiles, beautiful hearts brightened the occasion of Raksha Bandhan this year.
